Cowaramup Community - Education Cowaramup School Project

The Cowaramup Primary School is working Cowaramup Country to ensure a better environment for the future.

The school is involving Cowaramup Country in three areas of the years 4/5 and 6/7 curriculum; including Environmental Science, where the school participates in the “Ribbons of Blue” program, Society and Environment, where ‘The Community’ is a focus area and Design and Technology, where the children will design their ideal playground for consideration for the project.

Around 55 local primary school children recently set the ball rolling by taking part in the first planting at Cowaramup Country.  The event instigated the planting of some 40,000 native species of trees and shrubs planned to landscape the 36 hectares of residential land and public open space.

It also represented the first stage in an environmental tracking and other Progress Association programs.  Students will be monitoring the stream’s flora, as well as the levels of macro invertebrates (little bugs) over the years as a gauge of the stream’s health.
