Cowaramup Community - Our History Post War

After the war, an influx of Soldier settlers and others took up every vacant block and Ryan’s Timber Mill also caused some added growth in this period.

In these years, Cowaramup was busy and prosperous, although the closure of the railway line and the advent of heavy haulage trucks in 1957 impacted on the timber industry. After the period 1965/70, however, general economic conditions and low prices of commodities forced many farmers to quit.
